The Cimento Collection Is Giving Life to a New Poetry of Living

CIMENTO made its debut at this years Salone del Mobile with new collaborations and the art direction of Aldo Parisotto P+F Architetti. It was an architectural display of volumes and geometries that perfectly complemented the work being showcased. The collaborations with designers and architects featured in the Cimento Collection were all created with the compound, which includes over 90% mineral aggregates mixed with a cement binder. With the collection being inspired by Venice, new elements were added to create fresh colors true to the city.

Patricia Urquiola played a large role, creating several pieces of designs, as well as the stand itself. Her first design collaboration with the brand brought about the Frari tables and coffee tables, the Zattere stools, and the Fondamenta side tables. Urquiola’s Erasmo vases feature great color play and a juxtaposition of smooth and rough surfaces. And there’s also the Canal Grande capsule collection of paintings and mirrors. Inspired by Venetian architecture, each piece has polychrome inlays. This is the first time CIMENTO has added fragments, like glass and quartz, into their paste. Another alternative uses their own natural debris recovered from the production area.

The Cimento Collection also includes the Bovolo Lamp by BBA Studio – Barbara Ballabio and Andrea Burgio – and Lido Tables by Parisotto + Formenton. Work from Defne Koz & Marco Susani, Omri Revesz, and Studio63 were also included at the show. Each becomes a unique piece showing off the full potential of the material.
