Parent Resource Notebook

When my kids were little, I created a parent resource notebook for me to keep track of everything I needed to know.

I didn’t know all of the spelling rules off the top of my head, or all of the grammar rules, or all of the memorization either. So I created a parent resource notebook.

Here is what it included:

  1. Master Copies of paperwork I needed to reuse each week. (Handwriting Paper, Blank Schedule Form for each kid, etc.
  2. Memorization for the month or semester we were working on.
  3. Phonics teaching material for me to reference.
  4. Math facts drill sheets
  5. Spelling rules for me to reference.
  6. General Grammar rules for me to reference
  7. Book lists that I planned for history reading.
  8. Any teacher materials that I needed for the subjects my kids were learning.

It made my life sooooo much easier.

If you haven’t tried that, you might try putting a Parent Resource Notebook Binder together for yourself before school starts.

Organize the book however you want.

You can organize by student. One section per kid.

You can organize by subjects. Separating the material by student within each subject.

You can organize by time. Making it a scheduling binder that will keep you on track.

It really depends upon what you need.

Give it a try.
