Are you putting off organizing cords and your cables? How many tangled mystery cords do you have in a box somewhere because they go to something, you’re just not sure what

Organizing

And honestly, you just don’t want to deal with it.

It’s almost easier just to buy a new cord than to find the one you need in that tangled mess, right?

What about all the other cables in your life? The constant tangle of wires. The chargers around the house and the cords ruin your chic decor.

We know all the cords in your life are frustrating. So we rounded up some of our favorite ways to organize cords. So let’s get started! It couldn’t be a better time to organize all of your cables than now!
Organizing Cords: Where To Begin
Before you can decide on an organizing system for your cords, you first need to untangle all of your cords and determine what they are and if you need them.

Here are some simple steps to detangle and declutter your cords.
Detangle the cords
The first thing you need to do is to get those cords detangled. Keep them detangle by wrapping a rubber band around them.
Label the cords you know
There are likely cables you will know just by looking at them. Use a piece of masking tape or washi tape and a permanent marker to make a quick label.
Solve the Mystery Cables
What you have left are probably mystery cables and charging cords. Android Authority helps you figure out which charging cable you have. If you still have some mystery cables after that, you may just need to hold on to them for a little while.
Declutter old cables
If you have old cables that you know don’t go to anything, get rid of those. You also need to test the cables you have to see if they still work. If they’re broken, make sure they get decluttered as well.
DIY Solutions For Managing Cord Clutter
Once you have sorted through all of your cords, let’s first talk about ways you can organize cords without spending a dime!
Use Toilet Paper Rolls
There is no cheaper way to organize cords and cables then with toilet paper rolls!

Save the rolls from your toilet paper and then use them to store extension cords, laptop cables, chargers, etc!

This is a great way to keep cords contained and you can even decorate your toilet paper rolls with washi tape to make it a bit more fun.

Store your cords in toilet paper rolls in a basket or storage bin for safe keeping!
Use Binder Clips
If you have cords that are constantly falling behind your desk and out of reach, you can use binder clips to clip onto your surface and keep the cord from falling.

After you clip the binder clip to your desk or bedside table, squeeze the top metal handle to take it off the binder clip and then put your cord where you replace the metal handle it is nestled inside.  No more digging behind your nightside table or desk to find those lost cords. They will catch in the

You can also use them to wrangle all the small cords that are hanging out on your desk.

Simply roll up the cable a few times and clip the binder clip around the center to hold the cable together.

This hack works great for charging cables and headphones.
Command hooks on the back of kitchen appliances
Those kitchen appliance cords that are hanging out of cabinets need a solution. And using command hooks is the easy solution you are looking for.

Simply put a command hook on the back of your appliances and roll the cord around it. You can even use a cable tie to keep the cord secured.
Washi Tape
One of my favorite ways to identify cords is by labeling them with washi tape. Just grab your favorite roll of washi tape and wrap a small amount around the end of the cord. Then label what the cord is! This is a super easy way to tell which cord is which when they are all plugged into a power strip.
Bread Ties
Organizing cords and cables with bread ties couldn’t get any cheaper! If you’re already buying bread each week then chances are, you have a ton of bread ties laying around. Use those left over bread ties to wrap up your cords and keep them nice and tidy!

Don’t keep your bread ties? Grab some extra large ones here!
Shoebox Cable Organizer from Darkroom and Dearly
When I was looking for a solution for my own cable storage, I came across this beautiful DIY cable storage box.

She took a shoebox, decorative paper, and cardboard to make this little compartmentalized box.

I love how you can customize it to your home decor, and it can be put on a bookshelf to be handy but still look amazing.

A charging station can be a cord solution as well. Not only does it keep all your charging cables in one place, but it makes charging your devices simple.

I love this one because it is easy to set up and offers enough places to charge all your appliances at one time.

It charges up to 5 devices at one time and even has a place to charge your air pods and smartwatch.  So the next time you have to charge something, you won’t be asking everyone where the charging cable went.
