July 2021 Share Four Somethings

I love writing these monthly recaps; however, the one downside is the frequent reminder of how fast time is passing us by. I feel like I just finished reading all of June’s link-up posts, and here we are recapping July. Summertime is my time of year, and I hate the fact that it is halfway over. July was filled with exciting moments like my oldest getting her driver’s permit and some crappy ones like me getting poison ivy. All in all, though July was a great month, so let’s get on to July 2021, Share Four Somethings.

July 2021 Share Four Somethings

What is Share Four Somethings? It is a monthly link-up where you literally share four somethings on the fourth Saturday of the month. The first is Something Loved. What did you love this month? Maybe a new cute summer tank or a new summer lip color?

The second category is Something Read or Said. You get to choose. Was it a book (or five), a free devotional for mothers, or perhaps a podcast on self-care you listened to? Please share!

The third category, and maybe my favorite, is Something Treasured. What happened in the past month that you are holding close and treasuring?

The last category is Something Ahead. This is where you share what is on the horizon. What do you have coming up, and is there any way we can support you, encourage you or pray for you? So please join us in sharing Something Loved, Something Read (or Said), Something Treasured, and Something Ahead.

Something Loved

I wish I could share with you my Something Loved — Peaches! The Peach Truck visited my city in early July, and a friend and I split a 25# box of peaches. The peach truck delivers fresh-picked peaches to many towns. You can check their website to see if they will be visiting a city near you.

We enjoyed sliced peaches, peach crisp, and grilled peaches. So, how do you enjoy peaches?

Something Read

I have another great line-up for you this month! First up is Ten Words to Live By by Jen Wilken. The women’s ministry at my church did this book as a summer book study. It is about the ten commandments and let me tell you – it was fantastic! Five Stars! First, Jen does an amazing job of breaking down the commandments. Next, it was just eye-opening, and my understanding of the commandments expanded immensely. Highly recommend.

Next up was Educated by Tara Westover. This is a memoir about Tara’s experience growing up in a Morman home and how her knowledge of the outside world was very little until she decided to go to college. It was a very interesting read, and I enjoyed it greatly. Again, another I would highly recommend!

My third book was an audio I listened to – Becoming Mrs. Lewis. This is a historical fiction about the wife of C. S. Lewis. I know this is fiction, but I am choosing to believe it is factual and everything happened as it was written. I was immediately sucked into this book, and I found myself trying to listen to it whenever I could. It was no easy feat finishing as it was about 12 hours of listening, but it was so worth it!

Something Treasured

I am currently in New Jersey visiting my family. It is always nice to come home, and I have enjoyed time at my happy place – the beach.

One thing that I am holding onto this month is something my son said. In our home, we do our best to rest on the Sabbath. That means on Sunday, we don’t do work stuff. Whether it be housework or yard work, or homework. Sunday is family day, and after church, we have space and time to rest, relax, and enjoy the day. One Sunday afternoon (after a very busy work-filled Saturday), my son said, “I love Sundays! We get to go to church, and we don’t do any work, and we get to have family time!”

I’m treasuring those words.

Something Ahead

Y’all, I cannot wait for my something ahead! Next month my girls are heading out of town for a long weekend for summer camp with the high school ministry at our church. But wait, there is more. That same weekend I booked a camping trip for my husband and two sons to go on. Are you doing the math in your head? I have a whole weekend to myself in my home!!! I have no idea what I am going to do, but I will enjoy some peace and quiet, that’s for sure!

There are a few more things in the works, but I will wait until next month to share more about them.
