I remember when I was a teenager, I literally spent money like I had a never-ending supply. And spoiler alert — I didn’t. My parents were good with it for about a week and then the hammer came down and they told me it was time to get a job.

I’ve been working since age 14 and I really do attribute that to my work ethic and desire to always keep my eyes peeled for paying gigs.

Being a teenager who is ready to start working is a huge milestone in life! It either means they’re ready to take on more responsibility or they’re just wanting some spending cash for the latest online game. Either way, take it. It saves you money no matter what.

How To Make Money As A Teenager Fast

The biggest thing to remind your teen is there are opportunities everywhere. People are hiring in all lines of work.

Submit applications to all the businesses within walking distance

Even if your teen has a driver’s license, it’s just nice to be able to get up, walk out the door, and walk to work. That way, no matter what, they’re getting to work on time and won’t be depending on you or anyone else to get them there.

Check online for immediate work

The world of technology makes it super simple to get online and find job openings fast. If you have a neighborhood Facebook page, have your teen post that they’re looking for work as well.

They can advertise running errands, dog walking or dog sitting, grocery pickup, mowing lawns, shoveling snow, babysitting, and more.

Sell some of their personal items online

Decluttering can be a fast way for your teen to earn some extra cash. Have them go through their room, closet, and dressers. Pile up things they no longer want or have outgrown. If it’s a ton of stuff, have a quick yard sale that weekend. If it’s just a little bit of stuff, post it on the marketplace and see if they can get some extra spending money from it.

Offer tutoring to classmates

Talk about using their brain to make some quick cash. If your teen excels at school, they can get paid to help others learn their ways. Math tutoring and English tutoring are probably two of the most popular subjects where most kids need help.

Teaching your teen to think outside the box to start earning money doesn’t have to be complicated. It can be a quick and painless process that will motivate them to want to do more!
